6. 4. 2 [SAMPLE REFERENCES]
Citing Part of a Work (MLA 244)
1. If you quote, paraphrase, or otherwise use a specific passage
in a book or article, give the relevant page number(s).
2. When the author's name is in the text, give only the page
numbers in parentheses, but if the context does not clearly
identify the author, add the author's name before the
page reference.
3. Leave a space between them, but do not insert punctuation
or the word "page" or "pages" or the abbreviation "p" or "pp."
4. In "on-line" sources, distinguish paragraphs from pages
by adding a comma after the author's name (if given),
followed by "par." [space] and the paragraph number.
