Citing Volume and Page Numbers of a Multivolume Work
(MLA 247)
1. When citing a volume number as well as a page reference
for a multi-volume work, separate the two by a colon and
a space.
example: "(Wellek 2: 1-10)"
2. Use neither the words "volume" and "page" nor their
abbreviations. The function of the numbers is understood.
3. If you integrate such a reference into a sentence,
spell out "volume."
